Nutritional Information

The wellbeing of a healthy life is achieved through good, balanced eating. Looking after your health means eating well and eating everything. That is why we believe that the best way to encourage this wellbeing is by helping people to find out their nutritional needs and how to get the most benefit from them.

BALANCED EATING

Balanced eating is that which enables people to cover their nutritional needs, and therefore achieve optimum health. A balanced diet is based on a variety of foods to supply the nutrients essential for covering each individual's calorie needs.

The macro-nutrients in the diet should respect the following proportions:
Carbohydrates = 55% - 60% of the total intake.
Fats = 30% of the total intake.
Proteins = 10% - 15% of the total intake.

MEDITERRANEAN DIET

The Mediterranean diet is typified by abundant consumption of fruit and vegetables. It is a balanced diet based on vegetables, cereals (pasta, bread and rice), pulses, fruit and nuts, with moderate quantities of fish, poultry, eggs, dairy products and charcuterie products and red meat. Olive oil is consumed as the main source of fat, is used as a condiment for dishes that may be accompanied by moderate consumption of wine with the meal.

The importance of the Mediterranean diet is typified by the contribution of suitable and favourable nutrients such as the antioxidants, due to their content of vitamins A, C and E, and the high consumption of foods rich in fibre such as fruit, vegetables and pulses.

The Mediterranean diet contributes to reducing the risk of suffering chronic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, cancer, obesity or diabetes.
